Charles F. Orngard

I started my career in financial management in 1998 when I joined one of the big wire-houses on Wall Street.  I learned how to utilize the stock and bond markets to increase wealth and income for my clients, but trading stocks and bonds is only a small part of financial planning.  In 2001 I joined a brokerage firm with mid-western roots.  My mentors taught me the best way to help my clients was to take the time to learn about them, their family, hobbies, dreams, goals, worries, and then create an investment plan.  The best place to do this?  I found that it was at their kitchen table. As years passed, the firm's focus changed to quotas and firm profit. How can a trusted Financial Advisor really help their clients if he or she is only focused on the profitability of the firm rather than the client’s dreams?

In 2007, after a year of thought and planning, I left the wire-house world and became an Independent Financial Advisor and established Charles Orngard Financial Management, LLC. I chose my name as the company name so I am always reminded of why I started my own firm…hard work, loyalty, uncompromising quality, and personal service.  As an Independent Financial Advisor I choose the direction of my firm, but I don’t go it alone.  I rely on my strategic partner – LPL Financial, one of the nation’s leading independent brokerage firms*, to provide me with top-tier research, high-tech solutions, and sales support that my clients expect and deserve.

One of the big focuses in my life, is my family. My wife, Kate, and I have been married for 18 years and have four children, one girl and three boys. We moved to Ames so our children can grow up near our relatives, the Orngard clan.  Family is important in our lives, but so are the people you surround yourself with; this is another reason we moved our family here.   We wanted to instill mid-western values and the “Iowa Nice” I had experienced while growing up when visiting our family farm during summer breaks and when I attended and graduated from Iowa State University.  It's important to my wife and me that our children have a solid foundation for their future. It's just as important to me we build you a solid financial foundation so you can enjoy life today by planning for tomorrow.  I look forward to serving you.
